About Global Warming
Scientists and environmentalists worldwide agree that Global Warming is a problem, and that something must be done about it now.
Global Warming occurs when greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and other gases, are released into the earth's atmosphere; primarily through the burning of fossil fuels that occurs when we drive a car, fly in an airplane, and light or heat our homes and offices. Industrial and agricultural activities also increase the amount of gases being released into the atmosphere.
Scientists expect the impact from global warming to be severe, including stronger hurricanes and tornadoes, and an increase in ocean levels due to melting ice caps, drastically affecting low-lying areas.
The GOOD NEWS is that these climate scientists don't think it is too late to do something about the problem.
In the U.S. a diverse group of businesses and leading environmental organizations have urged the Federal government to enact strong legislation that will achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
On an individual level, we can cut back on energy usage where possible and begin "offsetting" the CO2 we do create.
